The primary purpose of the Assistant Food Service Director is to oversee the safe and efficient operation of all food locations at Dewberry Farm.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring Food Service Standard Operating Procedures are being followed, as well as all food locations are generating the budgeted revenue while controlling food waste.
The Assistant Food Service Director will also be responsible for food quality, assisting with menu development, and most importantly speed of service.
o Provide strong leadership in the selection, development, coaching, and retention of the team members.
o Continually strive to create and re-enforce the employee first culture.
o Be the Communication Champion by relaying important information from Food Service Director to the Food Service Team.
o Ensure all schedules are completed and posted for the teams in a timely fashion.
o Ensure the staff is trained to the approved Standard Operating Procedures and they are following them consistently.
This includes portion control as well as individual recipes.
o Motivate the staff by providing them with the daily revenue goals and by building a We Can beat this Goal environment.
o Ensure all team members are consistently operating their areas in a Safety First and Foremost manner.
o Project an Always Accessible image to team members as well as project great listening skills to the team.
o Meet weekly with leadership team.
o Responsible for operating the stands at or below budgeted expense levels.
This includes labor, as well as Cost of Goods.
o Responsible for achieving budgeted revenue goals for the Food Service Department.
o Initiates and conducts staff meetings, including pre-shift meetings.
o Oversees food quality and food safety, including performing daily food safety and food quality checks, manages food and beverage quality and presentation at the expo area and throughout the stand, and supervises Team Member health and hygiene.
o Manage shifts which include daily decision making, scheduling, planning while ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
o Effective and efficient hands-on leaders that directly work alongside employees.
o College degree preferred but not required.
o Three years of experience in Food Service industry is required.
o Must possess great communication skills and be able to speak to the team in a way that the message can be understood and comprehended easily.
o Strong decision-making skills are required.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
o Must have open availability and be able to work holidays, day, evening, and weekend shifts.
o This position requires the ability to take direction and transfer the direction into actionable actions for the team.
o The position requires a desire to ensure that the guest experience is always top of mind and that guest satisfaction is always top of mind when leading the team.
o Must have the ability to work in an outdoor environment in cold or hot weather and be able to tolerate precipitation.
o Must have reliable transportation.
o Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
